In the realm of society's lowest echelons reside the OOsagis. The OOsagis are born into a world where their fates are etched in stone: a life in service to the Vipers. Their paths were paved with predetermined roles, leaving them little room for individuality. Their existence is defined by a ceaseless cycle of routines and uniformity.
Yet, beneath the weight of their scripted lives, OOsagis searched for meaning that transcends the boundaries imposed upon them—who are they, what are they, and why do they live the way they do?
Day after day, the OOsagis looked everywhere for answers, from the shadows beneath their feet to the heights of the sky itself. The OOsagis attempted all the ways possible to bring color into their lives. As the perpetual pendulum of their lives swings on, the ultimate question lingers: why? Why does their existence unfold as it does? Nobody seems to know.
Well, maybe a few do, but not the OOsagis. Designed in celebration of fashion, art, niche cultures, and music, each OOsagi is generated from a selection of over 360 hand-drawn traits by our artist Esther Liang.
Esther Liang is an experimental artist specializing in traditional drawing and painting materials, clay sculptures, animation, and digital art. She is one of three official artisans at Louis Vuitton Canada, and dazzles in her own artistic creations in her free time.
Her personal artistic journey is marked by a relentless pursuit of new themes and mediums, where she draws inspiration from her life and topics of interest.
OOSAGI's journey begins back in the physical world when Esther decided to venture beyond painting to design, hand-sew, and paint a handbag for a personal project. The character she created for this handbag would later become the genesis for the character we now know as OOsagi. Seeing Esther's creative vision for the handbag inspired us to transform OOSAGI into a digital collection!
